Leaders in the Church are always determined by function.   This page simply introduces our full and part-time, paid staff. 

  

        Dr. Barry Scott has been in the ministry full time since 1977 having served six previous appointments in United Methodist churches before being appointed as pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church starting January 2010.  He is a native of West Tennessee graduating from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1974 and Candler Seminary at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977.  He received a Doctorate of Ministry from Oral Roberts Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Dr. Scott is an accomplished children's entertainer with skills as a puppeteer, magician, balloonist and humorist.  He has been asked to speak and perform for numerous churches and groups in a variety of settings.  Teresa, his wife of 35 years, is a registered nurse at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.  Their daughter, Hope, is a senior at Lambuth University and plans to be a Christian counselor.  Their son, Jonathan, is a safety engineer working for Marathon Oil Company in Cattlesburg, Kentucky.  The Scott family lives at 64 Stornaway Drive, Jackson, Tennessee 38305.

 

 

  

        Mrs. Karen Melson is our Administrative Assistant.  If you have a question, she can usually answer it.  If you need help, she can usually either provide it or direct you to someone who can.  Karen keeps tabs on our congregational life and keeps us organized.  She keeps up with our money, orders our supplies, schedules our life together and does so with a patient grace.  She also edits and publishes The Messenger, our weekly newsletter, is Administrator of this web site, and builds our worship bulletins.

        

        Mrs. Ondra Farmer is our Music Director.  With creative skill, incredible talent and playfulness, she directs an outstanding choir to enjoy a wide array of wonderful Christian anthems and hymns.  The Chancel Choir conducted by Ondra will sing almost every Sunday.  This is supplemented by solos, duets, trios, quartets, ensembles, and smaller choirs which Ondra selects to keep variety and 'freshness' in our worship. 

  

       Mrs. Betsy Porter is our Church Musician.  Gifted as a pianist, organist and vocalist, Betsy brings the Church into a state of awe when performing.  Whether accompanying congregational singing, providing meditational music, or working with an individual or group, she turns her God-given talent into an offering.
